Without the appropriate permissions, the option to edit records is not available. Users needing permissions should contact their system administrator for assistance.<\/p>\n\n<p>There are basically two different modes when it comes to editing existing records:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><thead><tr><th>Mode \/ Editor<\/th><th>Description<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Single Mode \/ Single Editor<\/td><td>Allows you to edit one record at a time.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Group Mode \/ Group Editor<\/td><td>Allows you to edit multiple records at the same time.<br\/><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>There are three different editors available:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><thead><tr><th>Editor<\/th><th>Description<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Sidebar Editor<\/td><td>An editor that opens to the right of the search. Only allows editing one record at a time. You can switch from the sidebar editor to the full screen editor at any time.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Full Screen Editor<\/td><td>An editor that covers the entire screen. Only allows editing one record at a time. You can switch from the full screen editor to the sidebar editor at any time.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Popover Editor<\/td><td>A small editor that opens when editing records of linked object types \/ lists \/ thesauri.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to access<\/h2>\n\n<p>You can open the editor by using the context menu in the search. Simply right-click on a record and go to \u201cEdit\u201d and then choose either \u201cIn Sidebar\u201d or \u201cIn Full Screen\u201d. You can also switch from the detail view to the editor by clicking on the small edit icon in the upper right corner. Once you are in the sidebar editor, you can switch to the full screen editor by clicking on the expand button in the upper right corner.<\/p>\n\n<p>To use the group editor, you must first select two or more records of the same object type. The &#8220;Group Editor&#8221; option will then be available in the context menu of a record. If there are multiple object types in the selection, you must select which object type you want to edit. For more information, see the group editor documentation.<\/p>\n\n<p>The popover editor is only available for list fields. Whenever a field requires a user to select from a list, you can &#8211; if you have the appropriate permissions &#8211; edit a record in the list by right-clicking on it and selecting \u201cEdit Record\u201d from the options.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General structure<\/h2>\n\n<p>Usually the editors consist of 4 parts:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><thead><tr><th>Part<\/th><th>Description<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Asset Browser<\/td><td>The asset browser is the part of the editor where a preview image is shown. Not available for object types without files.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Standard Info<\/td><td>Above the input fields, the so called \u201cStandard Info\u201d of the record is shown. It usually consists of a title for the record and system information (such as pool and ID).<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Input Fields<\/td><td>The input fields allow you to enter your data. They are based on the data model and are therefore fully customizable by administrators.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Footer<\/td><td>The footer shows some technical information, such as the date the record was created and last updated.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article describes the different ways to edit existing records.
